Biographical Sketch

DSCN0706Novriyandi Hanif was born and raised in Bogor, a small town of West Java, Indonesia where the city is a well known with Bogor Botanical Garden, the oldest botanical garden in Southeast Asia. He received his Sarjana Sains or Bachelor of Science (BSc) from Department of Chemistry at Bogor Agricultural University (Indonesia) in 1999. In 2004, he was accepted as Master of Science (MSc) student in the laboratory of Professors Junichi Tanaka-Tatsuo Higa at Department of Chemistry, Biology and Marine Science, University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa and complete MSc degree in the field of Organic Chemistry of Marine Natural Products on September 2006. After finishing master study, he was then recommended to join Professor Daisuke Uemura’s laboratory at Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science, Nagoya University and  complete the degree Doctor of Science (DSc) in the field of Organic Chemistry of Marine Natural Products for four years including six months as a research student. After completing doctoral study, he then moved to Keio University (Department of Bioscience and Informatics) and University of Prince Edward Island (Department of Chemistry and Department Biomedical Sciences and Duffy Research Center NRC-INH, Canada) in 2010-2012 as postdoctoral fellow supervised by Professors Daisuke Uemura and Russell G. Kerr. Currently, Dr. Hanif is as lecturer and researcher at Department of Chemistry, Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia. His main research interest is organic chemistry of marine and terrestrial natural products and chemistry of biologically and physiologically intriguing phenomena. Dr. Hanif was a recipient of MEXT scholarship, Watanuki fellowship, Prince Edward Island innovation and research excellence fellowship and the President’s Award of the University of the Ryukus, Japan.
